B-sides of KPOP groups I don’t stan that I LOVE!

Hi friends, I hope you’re all doing well!

Today I wanted to cover some B-sides of groups that I don’t personally stan or are a fan of necessarily. Obviously, with some of these entries, there are gonna be some caveats that I’ll explain so that no one freaks out in the comments because I don’t stan a popular group. But all of these are certified B-sides on the album they come from! I’ve disqualified soloists for the most part, and groups that I don’t follow right now, but stanned in the past. And just because a song has a music video doesn’t mean it’s a title track!

For nonbias besides my favorite KPOP B-side being at the end of the list, I’ve scrambled and randomized all of the list that I have. And by the way, you have no obligation to listen to any of these. Do so at your own discretion! So let’s go!

Stray Kids

Let’s just start out hot. I like a lot of Stray Kids’ title tracks, don’t get me wrong. Still, some of them fall into the “loud” category of boy group songs I absolutely despise such as Miroh, God’s Menu, Side Effects, Double Knot, Back Door, S Class and Lalala, which is unfortunately the bulk of their title tracks. That honestly bars me from completely stanning them, and I am just a casual fan of theirs. That being said, some of their title tracks are bangers, so I may have to check some of their albums out! I have three to highlight here!

First up is M.I.A. I don’t really listen to this one too often, but I do remember liking it. I had to listen to it to refresh, but it was one of those casual songs I added to my playlist that likely got swamped with everything else.

Next up is Chill, which has a music video, yay! I think this is in the name, honestly. It’s a chill boppy song that I like to play whenever I’m trying to focus on something or just to enjoy the vibe!

And then finally, N/S, which is my favorite. This song goes so hard for no reason. I can’t remember how I found it, but I think this video came up in my recommended tab on YouTube or something. Or maybe because I’m subscribed to JYP official. Either way, I’m glad it came into my hands because whenever I want to get hyped, I’ll listen to this song. When I start driving though, it may likely be banned from my car due to how hype it is!

Round 2 – CIX

I’ve got to say, I’m a casual listener of CIX, and I enjoy their title tracks Numb and Cinema, along with their newest Lovers or Enemies very much. However, when I found this song in a list of best KPOP b-sides, I was instantly in love. It evokes such a unique mix of chill, hype, and sexy that I just adore it. It’s songs like these that make me want to get into the groups, and I’d say that isn’t too far off.

Wa$$up

Wow, didn’t think you’d hear this group in this list, did you? Well, I remember very fondly when I was first getting into KPOP that I didn’t really like their title tracks. Their B-sides however? Pretty good! I like one better than the other, so I’ll go into the least favorite first.

I like this song, but I realize some of the vocals are shaky, which is why it’s my least favorite of the two I’ve chosen. It’s a pretty chill bop, and it’s easy to listen to as well.

I LOVE Hotter Than a Summer! It is a staple in my summer playlist all the time, and it’s got such a fun vibe to it! Plus, the fact that they used reggaeton in this song and only mentioned who was featured in the description of the music video was crazy. No one was doing it like them back then.

Secrets – Monsta X

I think I came across this song in a compilation of best B-sides, and I’ve got to say, it’s a banger. I’ve always been a casual fan of Monsta X also, and unable to pick a bias because they’re all pretty great and I just never delved deeper into them, but they’ve got banger title tracks all the time. I mean, this just makes me want to check out their B-sides because this one is so great. I’m likely missing out!

We Lost the Summer – TXT

Again I think I found this on a list of best B-sides or maybe I found it in HMart, because I Shazam songs in there a lot. This song is so funky and chill, I love playing this whenever I need a mood booster. A quintessential summer bop!

Dreamcatcher

Here I go, time for me to get canceled. I am not a fan of Dreamcatcher and I say this because all of their title tracks sound the same to me. I listen to a new one and hope, “Hey, maybe they’ve become variable this time!” Nope. It’s the same rock bullshit they debuted with. And I can see they are variable now by listening to their B-sides! My only ask is that they keep that momentum and use it to their advantage when promoting a title track. That’s why I don’t get it when people say they stan them because their discography is so disconnected.

That being said, I love two of their B-sides, and I’m convinced enough with these to check them out more.

Like this song, it’s such a girl boss anthem! And with the choreography, dear goodness! This would’ve slayed as a comeback! I don’t know why we’re squandering their potential here! I love this song a lot, it gets me super hype!

And this song. This is the creme de la creme of girl group B-sides. And it’s everything I want Red Velvet to do with their Velvet side, but never do. Dreamcatcher proved they can slay this style as well, which I love. This probably could’ve stayed as a B-side, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they used this to promote because it could’ve slayed!

D-Day – myB

Probably another group you’d never thought you’d see, huh? I feel like a lot of underrated girl group B-sides go unnoticed. This one is no exception, it’s amazing! I remember thinking about myB one day and wanting to go through their short-lived discography and stumbling upon this song. It’s one of my favorite girl group B-sides of all time. It’s such a calming and soothing song. It may not be that way in the lyrics, but I could never find any translations online, so if someone knows Korean and wants to, hit me up!

ASTRO

Again, I’m a casual fan of ASTRO, and liked many of their earlier title tracks because I watched them debut! But I do like two of their B-sides, and know that I have to get into them a bit more because these are bangers and I like them equally!

Cat’s Eye is such a feel-good song, and I love those types! It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy to listen to it! Finding this song was an afterthought later on since I didn’t give the album a first listen when it came out. But I’m glad I did because it’s a great little bop!

On the flip side, we have the sexy adjacent sounding More, which feels like it had seduction injected straight into it. I love that for this song because it makes it very easy to listen to! I can’t remember if this song was included on the list of best B-sides or not, but it feels like it.

Night and Day – Lovelyz

This was a recent find of mine on my “who she doe?” playlist, which is a culmination of where songs I’ve heard once or a couple of times go for me to get better acquainted with. This makes me unsure of where I’d found it, but it’s a bop! I, again, had been a casual fan of Lovelyz in the past, but now hearing this really compels me to check out their B-sides. And especially since this is from the same album as WoW, which is my favorite title track by them!

I Am You – P1Harmony

This was probably the most recent B-side find for me, and I have no idea how I found it. All I know is that there was a note on my computer about listening to it, and I heeded the advice of my past self. And boy am I glad I did because this song is a masterpiece. I feel so many emotions when I listen to it, and that first journey through it was unexplainable. I only like a couple of songs by P1Harmony because they’ve been hit or miss, but this makes me want to check out the rest of her discography.

Light a Flame – Seventeen

This song was another one of those on the best KPOP B-sides list I watched, and it’s amazing. Such a unique vibe mixed with so many musical genres makes for a very beautifully blended mix. I know that I need to check out Seventeen’s discography because again, I’m a casual fan and many of their title tracks are so good, but I’ll get there!

Fiestar

Another underrated girl group! I was initially introduced to them via KPOPSteve’s quiz with Bapmokja and Haeppy, and their song You’re Pitiful instantly jumped out to me. Well, I bought that album, Black Label, many years ago and did a first listen, and the tracks that jumped out to me and are staples of my playlist are these! I love them both, and I couldn’t imagine myself not enjoying this album as a whole anyway!

BtoB

I’m a casual fan of BtoB, and though I do have joint biases because I literally cannot choose between Eunkwang and Changsub, I do need to get into them more. That is on the to-do list, don’t worry. I love two of their B-sides, one from their earlier albums and one from Brother Act.

Lover Boy is just such a wholesome and perfect song to bop to! I love the line that goes “It’s so blue” so much, and the rest of the lyrics are super easy to sing along to and dance to!

This song is the hype song of the century and the raps in this go crazy! I love it so much! Can’t remember where I found this one, but glad I did!

Round N Round – Sonamoo

I never stanned Sonamoo when they were active, didn’t really enjoy their title tracks, and know virtually nothing about them. However, I chanced upon this song and I’ve been in love with it ever since. It truly never gets old, and I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite B-side of a girl group I don’t stan, but not overall. It’s just so happy and fun!

Just As We Are – APRIL

As a bonafide fan of APRIL’s title track April Story, I knew I had to get my hands on the album. During the first listen, I fell in love with this song instantaneously. It’s just so chill with amazing vocals and a snappety beat underlying the chillness. I’m sure they have other B-sides that are amazing, but I’ve never had the opportunity to check out their discography. I will do so someday!

Coffee Shop – B.A.P

Again, I’ve just been a casual fan of B.A.P throughout the years, but my discovery of this B-side was before I even knew who they were. Back in the day when I was first getting into KPOP, I was going on Pandora to discover songs since I didn’t really know how, and this one popped up. True to its name, it’s a chill song that is atmospheric to a coffee shop! I love it so much!

Enhypen

Enhypen’s debut impressed the hell out of me, but I never got into them or made an effort to explore their discography. As a result, I got pulled into some of their B-sides via TikTok like many others.

Polaroid Love is one of those feel-good songs that is an easy listen, so it’s no wonder that I instantly latched onto this song. It’s good!

Another one that was very big on TikTok. I think I like this one more than Polaroid Love. It’s got such a chill and unique feel to it that I don’t get from many other songs. Plus, it’s insanely catchy.

Q – Onewe ft. Hwasa

I honestly had no idea that this was a B-side until I looked it up. It just so happened to get an MV. I initially checked this out because I love Mamamoo and Hwasa is my bias, so naturally, anything she gets featured in, I listen to. This song is a chill banger, though!

Like Always – X1

Let me start out by saying that I know nothing about X1. All I know is that this song is very cute and a bop! That is all!

Impurities – Le Sserafim

Yet another B-side that got an MV. And rightfully so! This song is very much the style of music I like from girl groups. And they killed it with this one! I will say I really did want to like Antifragile, but there’s something in the mix of the instrumentals that hurts my ears, so sadly, I could not get into them due to that. But maybe I should give their B-sides more of a listen!

Cold Rain – 4Minute

From the iconic queens themselves, here comes 4Minute! Now listen, I love them for Hate and Crazy, but the rest of their discography really isn’t my jam. And this song is very out of that realm, so I’m surprised I like it so much! It’s definitely not a frequent play in my playlist, but it’s comforting to know that it’s there. I know I need to check out more of their stuff, I just haven’t.

Tweaks ~ heavy cloud but no rain – GWSN

This is another top contender for best girl group B-side of all time. I originally heard this in Hmart in the snack aisle and I was like, “Dude, what is this, this rocks!” I Shazamed it and I haven’t been the same since. It’s just such a boppy but chill song, and the vocals are insanely ethereal! I just love the vibes of the entire thing! I need to check out more of their stuff, too.

She’s Mine – U-KISS

While making this list, I honestly forgot this existed because I’ve been wrestling with U-KISS’ discography being taken off of Apple Music every other goddamn day, but I’m glad I did! Because wowza, I found this song through my Pandora days of trying to find more KPOP songs! It’s such a nostalgic play for me, and even though I don’t play it often, I got so feel-good when I played it trying to remember B-sides for this post. Gah, I love it!

Super Junior

Super Junior, I’m sure, has a lot of bangin B-sides. But there are a couple that come to mind that I enjoy!

I wanted to include this one as my disclaimer pick because #1, I know it’s not the entire group. It’s KRY, a subunit. But it was included in the Magic repackage, so I’m counting it. And #2, it’s a ballad. I’m not usually a ballad guy. But SM ballads, more specifically of these three men, are gorgeous. So I’m a fan.

Here’s another one I found off of Pandora back in the day! I don’t listen to this one a lot, but I must admit, that La la la part is such an earworm.

This one is just fun and fits into the Wild West theming of the entire album. I have this in my feel-good playlist!

This is the most recent one I found, probably about 2 summers ago on a list of songs adapted from other songs, which SM loves to do. And this one is a banger too!

And my favorite KPOP B-side OF ALL TIME goes to…

Beside by TVXQ! Man is this song a masterpiece from start to finish. From the bopping instrumental to the vocals to the insanely catchy lyrics that I sang despite knowing no Korean back in the day and how well it fits into the album retrospectively! This was another one I found on Pandora, and ever since then in 2015, I haven’t found a B-side that I keep coming back to like this one. It’s near and dear to my heart and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Concluding Thoughts

In conclusion, as you can see, I love a lot of music. And I think throughout this post the consensus for a lot of groups was this: even though I don’t stan them for whatever reason, their entire discography deserves a listen!

Let me know what you thought of my choices and if you didn’t know these before, how you felt after you listened to them!

I hope you have a great day/night/morning/evening/afternoon or whatever time it is for you out there. Thanks so much for checking out my blog! Much love!
